I have been watching the new HBO show “Enlightened” and episode 3 struck a chord with me so hard I could’ve blown Metallica out of the water sitting on my couch-bed.
The show is written by Mike White and stars Laura Dern as Amy – a corporate exec who has a public meltdown that comes out of a new age rehab ready to change the world.
The beautiful thing about her character is that she is actually really annoying. She embodies the self righteous hippie greenies that make people NOT want to recycle or donate to charity – yet somehow you like her, you’re on her side and you want her to succeed. It’s funny and charming and I think there are pieces of this show that will resonate with anyone if you let it.
